Simplifying the daily work for bakers around the world was an exciting challenge. Here, we designed an interface for a touchscreen that was integrated into the oven's front panel. We have since designed panels for professional ovens, pizza ovens, and proofing cabinets. The result has been very well received by users worldwide.
The company was founded in 1948 and is now a leader in the development and manufacturing of equipment for the bakery and pizza industries. Sveba-Dahlén is currently a major supplier to bakeries, pastry shops, retail, pizza/restaurants, and large kitchens worldwide.
The product was launched at the IBA trade fair in Munich in 2012. The interest in the new panel was fantastic and very positive. Those who saw and tried the panel were highly impressed by how easy it is to use and how quickly one learns the functions.
As ideas about how the user interface would work developed, sketches were created where we, together with the client, discussed and tested the views, feature by feature.
User-centered design
The interface was developed in close collaboration with the end users, namely bakers and store staff. Already at the wireframe stage, we visited bakeries and received continuous feedback from users on both design and functionality.
